Please go to YOUTUBE.COM and search this video : Summer Staff: Goodbye
William Brenninkmeyer is the one who made it.

This video was made per my request for my summer staff as they left so please do watch it.

UPDATE!!!! When August 14th arrives I will not only finish the summer but as well my second year with Life Teen.
What does that mean?? I no longer have to fundraise past that date but if you want to do your donations as one lump sum of what you have left to donate that is fine and then cancel your monthly donation or let me know if you would like to do that so I can speak with the proper people.

What is next?? I will be moving to Charleston, South on August 16th to start my new mission with the diocese of Charleston as a missionary for the diocese. I will be getting paid and have the position of team leader and house leader for the men but please pray we can get more men. If you would like to know more of what this all means and what I am doing next year please email me at [email protected] or call me at 404-482-4012

God bless you all for helping make this possible for me and for helping me reach thousands of teens

The end is near and what a beautiful ride it has been.

Update #19  •   Posted 2489 day(s) ago

Hello again, it has been a while but here I am alive and well somewhat. In a very recent glory story my right ankle was believed to be broken but when I went to an Orthopedic doctor he stated that if it was broken two days ago that it was not my foot that was broken. Miracle?!?!?! Who knows also I was going to have to pay a crazy amount but the office lady was told by the doctor not to worry about, praise God.

Here I am playing a revolutionary game called Flickerball which some would say is the future of sports. Combination of soccer, hockey, football, ultimate frisbee, and I believe that is it. Playing sports is tough for me in the sense that when I play this game I have sent someone to hospital for stitches on their face and then knocked the wind out of 3 people or slam into someone causing them to slam onto ground, so I play very little but this was after a missionary slammed into me and the fell backwards and lost their breathe.

Here I am with Davone one of the activity coordinators from Panama city beach, Florida. We went to the Gorge near camp with all 50 or 60 missionaries and went down 1,000 stairs so up those as well.

Brothers like these come every so often that it feels rare but very special. Love these men very much. Juan on my right and David on te left. Both of these men live out their faith so amazing and different from other men ad strive to be more Holy. Look up to these men for sure. Also those smiles, I mean come on.

So here I am with crutches and my right ankle looks funky. Since I coordinate camp I stand in front of hundreds of teens each week all week so somehow they all love to have chants for me when I get on stage so this chaperone had a shirt that she added my name to  which is HIP HIP JORGE which seems to roll off the tongue nicely as I am told. If anyone wants to actually make that sirt a reality thank you.

This is going to be my last year with Life Teen but that is just for now or forever who knows. I am still on my mission and in prayer God continues to call me to MISSIONS which doesnt always mean Life Teen. Soon enough I will announce the next chapter and journey in life for Jorge Gamboa but thank you for walking with me either this year or for 2 years. Forever and always in my prayers.

I hear the train a comin' its rollin round the bend, guess summer camp is near.

Update #18  •   Posted 2574 day(s) ago

This was at I am pretty sure the last men's formation we have had in a while but decided to take the guys minus Rod because he was sick but to a park in South Carolina since it was only 53 minutes away. The tope picture was a treat because I didn't even know it had a waterfall on site so we went under it and there was a trail probably not park trail bu t2 of the guys took a quick dip in the water and then we headed back home to the Cove. Before this top picture we went to the main attraction of the park, a cave that goes 1,600 ft into a mountain because back in the 1800's they were building a railroad but ran out of funding before they could finish, you can only go maybe 100 feet in then a big gate is there and it is owned by Clemson to study more of the cave. It was a pretty warm day but you got cold real fast once you stood at the entrance of the cave, we tried taking pictures inside the cave but it was pretty pitch black so proved to be pointless.

Men, in hunter-gather times, used to leave their women and children behind in order to head out together on extended hunting trips, driven by the need to survive. During these journeys, men would find themselves in pristine, perilous wilderness where they would depend on one another and their own sharpened senses, to outwit potential predators. These excursions would forge tight brotherly bonds between men, teach survival, mental alertness and use up extraordinary amounts of physical energy.

(Below) I got to do a couple things again in missions I never thought I would be able to do especially in missions. 1) Before this picture was taken a week before I was leading a small group of girls, which we never do or encourage and I translated each small group and any talks if needed. That experience was pretty fun and interesting. 2) The day of the photo I took a group of missionaries to the Archdiocese of Atlanta middle school festival at Notre Dame Academy in Duluth. I was a youth minister for a day for 12 kids from different parishes. 3) I made sno cones 4) I got to pugil stick fight an amazing youth minister named CJ and accidently made his nose get a cut and bleed but all in all a really great day with over 400 middle schoolers all around Atlanta.

(Above) Here is a picture from our first ever Missions Formal that we had for free at the Upper Room of Clarks on Main in downtown Clayton. This is Anna and she is going to be my mentor during the summer while I coordinate the first half of the summer and make sure everything runs smooth. What does it mean that I coordinate the first session?? I am basically in charge of the camp and all those on camp during that period. So please pray for me.

Finally this is me on this past Monday at Bell mountain near Hiawasee, Georgia. It is 3,348 ft above sea level. I am sitting on a ledge that if I were to slip off of lets just say it would be a long way down. Praise God I am writing this update so you know I am alive.

Thank you for all of your support, my mission year is almost done and I am so close to hitting my goal so please keep helping spread the word of what I do and praying for me. God Bless

Let it go

Update #17  •   Posted 2616 day(s) ago

So it has been a while since the last update but you will be glad to know it did snow here and I went with a few staff guys and girls 6 total at 1am to slide down a huge hill we have on camp and build a snow man

Here we are celebrating either a birthday or baptismal day not to sure since there are many of us. One major thing I love about missions is the community we build and have with each other.

If you look at the picture before this one, the girl holding the Don't join the 24 club in the front named Anna. Anna and I built this heart with a cross in the center yarn thing, not to sure what it is called but it only took us an hour to nail and string the whole thing that is about 3 ft tall and weighs maybe 35 pounds.

Recently we went on outreach to a Homeless Ministry group in Smyrna, GA (near my home in Atlanta) It is called 7 Bridges to Recovery, it is an amazing group and you drop off lunch at each location you visit and pray with those you encounter and are able to be Christ to the people you encounter. http://7bridgestorecovery.org/

Lastly if you are a male or know of a male or many male. Send them to camp for a great weekend with other Men to become not only mor manly but learn what it means to be a MAnly man of God. http://lifeteen.com/events/men-covecrest/

Please feel free to call me or text at 404-482-4012 just leave message with your name if I don't pick up and text with your name.

Here I am with my beautiful cousin Jackie. Here I am at the famous John 15 retreat at Cove Crest with one of my summer staff missionaries and a pretty amazing missionary overall Olivia who is currently at our mission base in Haiti because why would she not be doing mission work on break.

Random picture of my sister Daisy and I when we were little kids in California.

Memento Mori.

Update #14  •   Posted 2719 day(s) ago

The Day of the Dead has just passed also known as All Souls day and it has been a bit of a struggle for me lately. During the summer I went to ER and found out my hip is dipping and causing a leg to push in a bit my sacrum is pusing into itself causing lovely lower back pain, my neck is at a 9 degree angle and normal is 35 to 45, so it is almost straight so I also have neck pain. My right shoulder also is acting up at time, during the eighth grade retreats I may have torn my MCL a bit or aggitated it a good bit, during a lock in last week i slid to a base and my left foot folded into itself and man did it feel lovely. Reason for all this is it helps to remind me of how fragile we are and need to be put in place at times or that we are human, we will die.

The Motto for the house this year is Memento Mori because it has come up so much in my prayer in the sense of remembering my death. How you take it depends on you adn what type of death. Memento Mori makes me rememeber my father, Jorge A. Gamboa Sr. who passed away on 11/5/11.

I carry this picture with me in my wallet everywhere I go and brings back memories of the man that loved me like I have never been loved before and could never be loved again. It has been tough through these years without him but at times I feel as though he is with me and peace comes over me. In prayer God has shown me how losing my dad has allowed me to be where I am today and how much he has done for me even through death I learn things and remember what he taught me. Please pray for me this weekend especially as I journey home to visit my family and be there for them during the 5 year anniversary of his passing and strength for my mother and sister in this tough time. God bless.

Hello there. A bit of what has been going on since last time.

Update #13  •   Posted 2719 day(s) ago

Who do you say that I am?

That is the name and theme of the 8th grade retreats that the first year missionaries put on for Holy Redeemer in Atlanta when they came for it. I was mentoring the first year missionary in charge of the retreat AKA the Champion of the retreat. The retreat follows David and how he didn't seem like much in the beginning but ended up becoming one of the best kings in bible. We also go into his fall and how we fall and can turn to Confession. The picture above is from the set we built and it costed us a grand total of $10 dollars to make, thank God for sets at Covecrest.

Talk name and goal

Session 1: Who do you say that I am?- Teach teens to look at others and themselves as God does.Looking first at the heart rather than the outward appearance.

Session 2:Cleaning out the inside.-Importance on the sacrament of Reconciliation.

Session 3:A heart overflowed. After reconciliation and emptying
their lives of sin, teens challenged to invite Christ to fill them up with his presence through receiving him at Mass in the Eucharist.

Session 4:After God's heart.- to challenge the youth to open their hearts to the love of God and place God before all people or things in their lives.

Session 5:On the outside.- to challenge the youth to keep their hearts focused on God through
participation in the life of the Church – attending Mass, going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation
frequently, and being involved in positive and lifegiving friendships.

This is just another glorious sunrise here at Covecrest after Holy Hour and Morning Prayer.

The girl with glasses is the House Leader for the girls, the lovely Erin. The one hiding here face is the amazing Base Leader name Lauren. The guy in yellow is me of course and the reason for this picture is because we were just laying on the floor.

Update #12  •   Posted 2757 day(s) ago

Brothers and sisters,

I am writing to you today with the hope that you could all help me this
year especially in ensuring that my year is lived through fully. Right now
where it stands with my account its looking like it wont be possible to be
here all year.

How can this be? Last year I almost hit my goal for the year but I was only
able to hit $4,562 which made the rest of my goal that I didn't hit carry
over into this year and as I found out this first account update I am
sitting in a nice size hole of about $2,500. I believe it is possible to
fix this and any amount helps to bring it down whether that looks like a
one time donation or becoming a monthly donor. A donation of whatever
amount big or small still helps bring it down especially if it happens this
week. Any money I raise right now goes straight into fixing that and will allow me to get a stipend for myself in case of emergency or groceries etc.

Helping me out with this ask and your yes will not only allow me to
continue to serve the kids that come to camp but also help me in leading my
men of the house here at Covecrest closer to Christ as well. I am the
Formation year House Leader at Covecrest this year and lead the new batch
of men through the year.

Will you consider joining me in this mission, not only now in this time of
struggle but also in the times of great joy? If you already donate then please consider giving the monthly all at once in a lump sum if possible. This mission is one that pays
back in so much more than anything I could desire, only way to put it is,
If this is to be my suffering at this time it is worth the Glory of Heaven.

Week into year 2

Of course I would be the only one not looking but I love it, this picture the people in it and being able to journey with them all this year and keep you updated.

Year 2 is approaching.

Update #10  •   Posted 2786 day(s) ago

Being home for break has been nothing but amazing. I was able to go back to Covecrest and help serve a retreat wit only 4 other people to cook and serve over 200 kids and this past weekend to be able to watch one of the first session summer missionaries play volleyball at KSU a school down the road from me. She plays D1 and is such an amazing woman. Above is a picture of the COvecrest ladies that came to watch and Jacob Butz on my left, his brother, Andrew and myself the only guys. Community is such an amazing tool to keep you up and going when times are tough.

There is only 2 days left in this mission year!!! Where has the year gone? :/

Update #9  •   Posted 2803 day(s) ago

Today we went to mass and had brunch  at Chic-Fil-A with all of the Cove Crest staff and missionaries. We gave affirmations by remembering all that has happened throughout the year. Tonight we have a missions dinner with both camps, Cove Crest and Hidden Lake. Please Pray for all the missionaries transitioning out of missions into jobs or back home and for those that are moving into new positions at camp.

Some pictures from the year.

Helping keep the community clean in Rabun at Keep Rabun beautiful also if you got to their Facebook page you can see Aimee and myself on the profile picture putting trash... in a trash bag.

Every monday this summer after mass all the men would get in a circle of sorts and a brave soul would lead us in a chant of "Men of God" and us replying as whole "Rise up"  starting softly and growing to a loud roar. It was very energizing and uplifting because it is something we pray for, for more Men of God to rise up.

Ohana to the max. People might say it is impossible to Love more than one person fully but they don't know me, my heart is a well that goes all the way down, all of them fit and man was it painful to see them all leave they would call me Tio. I was their Summer Staff Mentor and got to journey with them, wrap their foot when hurt, put Tigers Balm on it and just love them.

Here is the dream team for the summer. (Left to right: Jorge(Me) the Mentor, Courtney the Beautiful girls Captain, Tyler the majestic guys Captain, and last but not least Lauren the fearless leader Summer Camp Coorinator.

Here is IHS house of this year. Our first month here at training Conference with Emily Wilson (Ladies check her out and her book) and Dave the old missions director that was nothing but loving to us all. We have all come so far since this picture.

End of session one on the horizon and my session is sailing in.

Update #8  •   Posted 2855 day(s) ago

So this week is the second to last week for session one here at Cove Crest and this saturday my session will be arriving and be part of the first over lap between camp and session one. Session 2 will basically have to be invisible while Lauren and I help train them and set them up for success for session 2 that also starts on a sunday which is very different and new to us all. This first session has had many leg injuries by the sumer staffers and just injuries over all and missionaries getting sick left and right so prayers will be greatly appreciated for my session.

This past sunday I got another rare opportunity to go watch The Conjuring 2 which if you know me I LOVE scary movies, many may not agree or like the fact that I do but I got to go watch it. I was able to go watch The Conjuring 2with FR. Jeff a priest here at camp for second week in a row. Here he is entering with the BIG MAN for adoration. Fr. Jeff amazes me with his faith, joy, and all that he brings to those who don't think they can do anything or whatever because of disability. Fr. Jeff also loves scary movies and has met the Warrens.

Also recently I helped a summer staffer raise money for her missions account and we hit the goal. So if you are part of the shave club you can jump for joy and then calm down, if you are part of the don't shave club let us take a moment of silence and then party, for it still lives on, to some extent.

We hit her goal and she wasn't scared to shave it off using her hands to basically almost tear it off, the clippers were to just aid in the tearing. Overall it was fun, intense 3 days of fundraising and now I can feel the warmth of the sun and the cool wind upon my chin. As a camper named it, King Charles will return. Thank you so much in all you do and for your contribution to this mission of Life Teen God bless you all and if you haven;t become a mission partner or know someone who might please share and slap the DONATE button.

A little fun fundraiser to help a sister out.

Update #7  •   Posted 2866 day(s) ago

So summer camp has kicked off and I am being reminded of the pain of raising money for it, so I am helping one of the Summer missionary girls raise the rest of it which is $300 by raising $700 for both of us split and as well all left over going to the Haiti mission base. All this before next Wednesday

How am I doing this?? I have accepted that she shave my beard or at least trim it to almost me not having one which a lot of people want to see. I haven't seen my chin in like almost 2 years. It is all for fun and to help a fellow missionary out. Please consider donating doesn't have to be a lot 10 bucks is more than enough. thank you and God bless.

P.S. I cut the Host for the week, his sons hair. So my hair business is going good I guess but I don't charge but one day haha.

First week of Summer camp down.

Update #6  •   Posted 2872 day(s) ago

So I have been really busy latley with summer camp preparations and over 50 new missionaries for the summer have arrived to help minister and facilitate an enviroment that will help the teens encounter Christ.

Week one of summer camp is done. Working in the office helping out with the nurse and just being whatever camp needs of me has been very tiring but amazingly blessed meeting teens from right here in Georgia to Kansas.

Also I have been givien the task of camp barber. Not really a position but I cut the guys hair here at camp. They really live into the Rule of Trusting in trust worthiness considering I usually cut my own and then they just asked me to.

Here is one of my new clients. Devan from Gainseville, Florida one of the summer missionaries here at camp for 7 weeks 3 of those down.

Here I am with my co-worker in the vineyard and best leader for session 2 of camp on top of Black Rock stat mountain in Rabun.

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Update #5  •   Posted 2918 day(s) ago

Here is an encouraging quote I read today about allowing and trusting God to use you:

“Jacob was a cheater, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Paul was a murderer, Gideon was insecure, Miriam was a gossip, Martha was a worrier, Thomas was a doubter, Sara was impatient, Elijah was moody, Moses stuttered, Abraham was old,… and Lazarus was dead. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED!”

No matter where you are in your life with God, HE is qualifying you for his service because you are CALLED. He can help you overcome the mistakes you have made, and even use them to help others. Just allow Him to use you.

With that being said I would like to finally announce it to all that I have been CALLED to be the Men's House Leader for the 2016-2017 year.

I am going to be leading a group of five men closer to God and be there for them in any way possible on this year long journey. I will also be a part of this journey as I grow in the role of a leader and learn throughout the year more about the guys and myself.

So what does this mean for us, us being myself and you. I am inviting you after this first missions year is done to join me in another year of mission partnering and to continue to invite more people into the mission of Leading not only teens closer to Christ but the parents and those who may not be able to do this whether it is physically or because of time. This year wouldn't have been possible without you and another year would be even more possible with your yes, whether it is a lump one time donation or monthly it is greatly appreciated and in case you didn't know it counts as a write off for your taxes. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this update. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected]

The End is near... of missions of course. Year 1

Update #4  •   Posted 2926 day(s) ago

The set for the main room or meeting space for the Men's Retreat. Which was a record breaking event for the Men's retreat  with over 150 participants. It was so amazing to see men from different walks of life to come together and just be men and not afraid to share what they feel and rise up.

Can't wait to have the 2017 Men's retreat here at Cove Crest next year. MARCH 10-12 in case any one wants to invite any men you may know or send me names of the men to pray for.

A few days ago when a few of the missionaries decided to have a hammock city hangout by the stream on camp and just relax on our sabbath.

In case you did not know this was the picture I took the day I found out I was going to live at Cove Crest for my mission year. The joy I felt that day was so amazing and grand as is almost everyday here at Camp.

The 2016-2017 House Leaders for Cove Crest.

Here is a random picture to remember of Erin Garrett from LaFayette, Louisiana who is going to be the house leader for the girls next year here at Cove Crest so please pray for her as she transitions into this leadership role for next year. Also please pray for me as I will be taking the role of Men's house leader next year.

Have you heard of Fight the New Drug??

Update #3  •   Posted 2973 day(s) ago

http://fightthenewdrug.org/why-actor-terry-crews-wants-people-to-stop-watching-porn/

Fight the New Drug is in refence to PORN. A topic most people are scared to talk about or uncomfortable to talk about. Teens come to camp and sometimes they share that this is a struggle and how it affects them personally but it is very hard for them to talk about for fear of what people may say or think of them. Like with anything you may be struggling with bringing it to the light is the hardest step but is what gets the ball rolling on seeking help and finding an end to it. I believe that this is a Fight we all must be a part of, but first we must inform ourselves to be able to help the youth of todays world. Whether you are a teacher, core member, parent, single, a teen we all know some one who is struggling with this addiction and could use the push from you to get their eyes open. Here is there Mission and story.

Our Mission:

Fight the New Drug exists to provide individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding pornography by raising awareness on its harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts.

Our Story:

Pornography used to be a matter of personal opinion. Some people felt it was natural, normal, and even expected it to be consumed. Others felt it was “bad” or “wrong” due to their own religious beliefs or political views. However, few people, if any, seemed to have concrete evidence to support their points of view.

As young college students not too long ago, we came across the recent science of how porn affects the brain and we were shocked! After further study we began to find that porn not only had negative effects on the individual, but that pornography’s influence was causing huge problems in relationships, tearing apart families and that production of pornography was often inseparably connected to the world of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. The research was clear that pornography has negative neurological effects, is damaging to relationships, and is impacting our society as a whole. Most of all, we couldn’t believe that all this was happening and nobody was talking about it! We quickly became passionate about educating the world (specifically teens) and raising awareness on the issue. In 2009, we officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and began this campaign.

We are the first generation in the history of the world to face the issue of pornography to this intensity and scale. We’re also the first generation with a scientific, fact-based understanding of the harm pornography can do. With that knowledge, we feel the responsibility to share with others that porn harms the brain, damages relationships, and affects society as a whole. Our movement uses nothing but science, research, and personal accounts to bring this issue out into the open and get people talking about something that has previously been considered taboo.

By choosing to Fight pornography, FTND followers can help shape their own lives for the better. By spreading this message to others however, they hold the power to shape history. From that simple idea, Fight the New Drug and the ‘Porn Kills Love’ movement was born.

About Our Approach

With an all-inclusive approach, we carry our anti-pornography message across borders of religious beliefs, political agenda, and social backgrounds by presenting it as a public health issue, rather than as a moral, political or religious argument.

As a nonprofit organization, we at Fight the New Drug give live presentations on the harmful effects of pornography in schools (public and private) and universities throughout North America. In just five years, we have toured the country and presented our message to over 300 schools reaching hundreds of thousands of teens. We are also delivering our message through social media and have gathered a massive following that has created a powerful social movement online. In addition to spreading awareness, we also assist young people who are already struggling with porn addiction through our unique online program: the Fortify Program. As we present our message, not only do we educate teens on the harmful effects of pornography to allow them to make an informed decision but we also give them a place to turn for help, as so many are silently struggling and are too ashamed or embarrassed to reach out for help.

This New Year.

Update #2  •   Posted 2978 day(s) ago

So this March we are having a Men's retreat from the 11-13 here at Cove Crest. We still have a good bit of spots left for it so if you know any Men who can benefit from this experience or who would love to spend time with other men doing Manly things please send them this link or you yourself can visit http://lifeteen.com/events/men/

When Winter Storm Jonas came through North Georgia we got hit pretty good and had a beautiful view from the top of BIg Mama ( Hill at entrance of Camp)

Therese House at the top of Big Mama before we slid down the side of Big Mama with whatever would work.

During Super Bowl Weekend all our families were able to came down or up to Cove Crest and visit camp and see what it is like here at our new home. My niece (Camila) and mother ( Maribel) were able to come and see the beauty that is Cove Crest and the stuff we do with groups and help out as well.

Playing some 9-square with a retreat group from Athens, Georgia that also took some kids from the parish we go to for their Confirmation retreat.

St. John Neuman from Lilburn, Georgia with an amazing new youth minister named Jason that had some pretty funny puns and great energy for the group in his first retreat with them.

Reading on the Year of Mercy and finding what sticks out to you is very nice to do and just pray through what Mercy means to you and how to apply it.
