Update #4  •   Posted 2641 day(s) ago

Hey everyone, Thank you all so much for your continued support of my missionary work in Haiti for God and with Life Teen Missions.

Life Teen is moving to a new online payment processor, and we are requesting that you make a simple change to get set up on this new system. All it requires is for you to create a new monthly donation online. You can go to my mission page donate.lifeteen.com/screpin to set up your NEW MONTHLY donation. Once you enter your new donation, your previous donation profile on the outdated processor will be cancelled immediately.

If you have any questions please feel free to email myself or [email protected], who is responsible for Mission Partnering and Logistics.

Please continue to keep us in Haiti in your prayers and know that I am always praying for you!

Mission in Haiti and Hurricane Matthew

Update #3  •   Posted 2708 day(s) ago

Dear Missionary Brothers and Sisters,

It has been a truly blessed and grace filled past month on mission year in Haiti with Life Teen. Days after our arrival, our community and other southern parts of Haiti were struck severely by Hurricane Matthew. On the eve of the storm, we had a chance to gather our entire community together and pray for safe passage through the storm. Shortly after, all Life Teen missionaries were asked to evacuate and take shelter with the JP II missionaries of our new sister community in Anse-a-Vau. Once Matthew struck, it would take us nearly 5 days to return to our Base and begin rebuilding our home.

Hurricane Matthew took more than our physical needs from us; it took a piece of my heart. The first week of recovery was filled with great sadness to see how many of our friends and community lost entire houses, roofs, gardens and livestock. Even worse, I saw how many of our neighbours now have to return to living without water and electricity or how many roads are still impassable and villages remain flooded even today. For me, this was a time where I believe God called me to not be afraid but to go out and be missionary and serve.

An amazing gift God gave to us this month in the midst of all our despair was a chance to celebrate as a community and a Church the Feast of Saint John Paul II, the patron of our missionary community in Haiti. Preparation for the days of our feast was different this year than most, as our base had to be restored after the hurricane. We spent days cutting endless tress which fell, repairing roofs of buildings and renovating our Great Chapel where celebrations would be held.

I was truly blessed to witness how through bad weather and people lives being completely disordered after the hurricane, many came out to celebrate with us our Triduum in honour of JPII, then a Vigil Mass and Feast; and finally our Feast Day Mass and Reception. Many stayed content even with having wait long hours for clergy and family and friends arrive, which gave us more time to pray and sing praise even more louder.

I am incredibly thankful for all the prayer and support you have given me during this trying time. I would like to ask you to pray especially for many of our teens and missionaries who serve in Haiti. Also, I’d like to invite you to partner with me financially at $50/month. You can donate online at donate.lifeteen.com/screpin. If you would rather send a check, you can make it out to “Life Teen Missions,” with my name in the memo line. Checks can be sent to:

Also I have an invitation to you all - on Saturday I will celebrate my Baptism Day! and would also like to thank many of you who share in God's mission, so please join me for celebration of Holy Mass on Sunday offered for Evangelisation of All Peoples and in Thanksgiving for missionary workers and persons who donated to LifeTeen's missionary work in Haiti. The Mass will be held at my Parish of Saint Joseph, our Protector in Saint Joseph at 8:30am

HOPE I SEE ALL OF YOU THERE!

Haiti Missionary Update September 2015

Update #1  •   Posted 3114 day(s) ago

HAITI UPDATE SEPTEMBER2015

On September 19th I returned to the United States to visit a few friends who have truly made an influence on my first year as missionary. A seven hour layover in Miami gave me an opportunity to have hang out with missionaries from Miami State University and their Youth Minister Michelle Ducker who joined us in Haiti this past summer for 2 mission trips. That same evening I arrived at Hark House (Catholic Men’s Community) in Nashville, Tennessee to spend time with one of my missionary brothers Trevor Smith and his family who I served with in Haiti. I had a chance to say this city in all its beauty and lifestyle touring concert music halls, breweries, Jack Daniels Distillery, Saint Mary’s Cathedral and a lot of other places.

On September 22nd I arrived back at Life Teen Camp Covecrest to prepare for my second year of missions and to celebrate the wedding of two of our missionaries Michael and Jessica Stevens. Michael aka “Stretch” was my house leader and formator this past year and Jessica was one of Covecrest’s Base Leaders. I am truly grateful to be invited to be a member of their wedding party and serve at Nuptial Mass. This was one of the holiest marriages I have ever attended and it was great to be there with all my other missionary brothers and sisters of the past few years.

Before for officially beginning my second mission year, the night before Amy, Laser and I went to Atlanta to help with Holy Family Parish’s Life Nite and talk about why we chose to become missionaries in Haiti. We also spent the day with Life Teens President Randy Raus and Debbie Kleban a parishioner whose family joined us in Haiti on a mission trip. My first week back in Haiti as a permanent full time missionary has already been crazy but glory filled, with taking on new roles in helping leading Confirmation Class at Sen Antoine D’ Padua Parish, leading Gwop Solda (which is our weekly guys group) and being on the Liturgy Team. Please keep me in your prayers as I am still learning Creole as well.

Randy Raus also visited Haiti this week along with Steven Smith one of the founders of our base and Kerri Mecke Lozano, whose family will be moving to become missionaries here in January next year so she could do a Base visit before moving.

Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to pray for while on mission and please continue to keep me constantly in your prayers, especially that I would continue find the financial support to be on mission here in Haiti. So far I have reached over 3000USD in donations however my yearly goal is now 10,000USD. If you would like to make a donation you can visit donate.lifeteen.com/screpin for online donations or email me at [email protected] for other ways you can donate.

Ad maiorem Dei gloriam!
