My journey with Life Teen began as a 17-year-old junior in high school. I went with my youth group to Steubenville West in Tucson, AZ, a huge conference hosted by Life Teen. Thousands of teens attended this conference, but it was the personal relationship with Christ that changed my heart that weekend. We were given the opportunity to adore Christ in the Eucharist, and the Holy Spirit spoke so powerfully to my broken heart—I was grieving the loss of my father to lung cancer earlier that year—that I left knowing I was truly a daughter of God, and I committed myself to a life of loving and serving the Lord. I had no idea where this commitment would take me, but my life was transformed because of it.
For years, my plan for life had been law school. I was going to earn my J.D. and work with and for small farmers protecting their land and life’s work.
However, God had other plans. In the summer of 2009, I went to Steubenville West, this time as a chaperone for my youth group, and once again encountered Christ in a real way. Suddenly, in the middle of a session, I knew I was called to youth ministry, and that God meant for me to bring his love and message to his young people.
That’s a pretty drastic change from law school!
I believe that if every person understood, even a little, the love that God has for them, the world would change. As a Life Teen Missionary, I am committed to bringing the Gospel and its message of Christ's deep, intimate, abiding love to teenagers wherever they are. I have committed two years of my life to this mission. For the 2012-2013 mission year, I will serve as a missionary in Atlanta, Georgia.
Lives will be transformed by your "yes" to joining me on mission through your prayers and financial support.
